5 000 Copies Of Paris Hilton’s Debut Album Sold Worldwide Every Week

Paris Hilton’s music phenomenon may have already died along with her debut album, “Paris.”

But remarkably enough, a steady 5 000 copies a week is now being sold to major music stores. As of March 2nd, 2007, an insider known as “Zago” who has access to MediaTraffic’s database reported on his website this morning that 585 875 records of “Paris” have been sold worldwide since the release of the album in August 2006.

It is probably still selling because Paris Hilton is in the news, and has established herself as a brand. Every product she sells, the more she gets noticed for her other professions.

Technically, 545 000 copies have been sold, but since MediaTraffic can’t cover every country’s CD sells, he adds 7.5% to the amount for each music album. MediaTraffic covers about 90-95% of the music market.

Here’s the list of a couple of well known artists who released an album in 2006 and the number of copies it has sold till this day worldwide (includes 7.5%).

Justin Timberlake FutureSex / LoveSounds 5 688 900
Nelly Furtado Loose 4 666 575
Pink I’m Not Dead 4 201 100

I am proud to say that after illegally downloading the album and listening to that for several months, I finally bought the album from iTunes yesterday.

So now I can call myself a REAL fan of Paris’s music =D Haha.
