Paris Hilton apologizes over gay remark

    Reported by GLAAD

Paris Hilton released an apology following media reports about comments she made about gay men. Hilton’s comments were made during a conversation with a gay friend when part of the comments were recorded by a New York cab driver, then released through Radar Online earlier today.

She released the following apology to GLAAD:

As anyone close to me knows, I always have been and always will be a huge supporter of the gay community. I am so sorry and so upset that I caused pain to my gay friends, fans and their families with the comments heard this morning. I was having this private conversation with a friend of mine who is gay and our conversation was in no way towards the entire gay community. It is the last thing that I would ever want to do and I cannot put into words how much I wish I could take back every word.

HIV/AIDS can hurt anyone, gay and straight, men and women. It’s something I take very seriously and should not have been thrown around in conversation.

Gay people are the strongest and most inspiring people I know. It is so wrong when people bully or put down others for being gay. No one should have to go through that. Again, I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart and I feel absolutely horrible. I hope that everyone can accept my apology and know that it is not who I am or how I feel in any way.

Thank you for taking a minute to read this, I love you.

Paris Hilton targeted for gay remark

    Reported by CNN

Paris Hilton’s comments about gay men who use a cell phone app for sexual hook ups were expressions of concern about the dangers of unprotected sex, not homophobic slurs, her publicist said Thursday.

The Hollywood socialite said, “Gay guys are the horniest people in the world,” called them “disgusting” and suggested “most of them probably have AIDS” in the short conversation secretly recorded by a New York cab driver two weeks ago, according to RadarOnline.

The online celebrity gossip site did not identify the driver or reveal how much, if anything, was paid for the recording published Thursday.

Hilton’s publicist, in a statement sent to CNN Thursday, confirmed the recording was authentic, but said, “It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays.”

“Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community and would never purposefully make any negative statements about anyone’s sexual orientation,” the statement said.

Hilton was riding in a cab with “an openly gay male model” during New York Fashion Week in the early morning hours of Friday, September 7, RadarOnline reported.

The gay friend was showing Hilton the iPhone app Grindr, which advertises itself as the “most popular all-male location-based social network out there,” offering “quick, convenient, and discreet” connections, RadarOnline reported.

“Say I log into Grindr, someone that’s on Grindr can be in that building and it tells you all the locations of where they are and you can be like, ‘Yo, you wanna f–k?’ and he might be on like, the sixth floor,” the male voice is heard saying.

“Ewww! Gay guys are the horniest people in the world,” Hilton said. “They’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS. … I would be so scared if I were a gay guy. You’ll like, die of AIDS.”

“Paris Hilton’s comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening disease,” her publicist said.

RadarOnline was “only provided a portion of the conversation,” the statement said of the 50-second-long clip.

“The conversation became heated, after a close gay friend told her in a cab ride, a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having unprotected sex,” the Hilton statement said. “He also discussed a website that encourages random sex by gay men with strangers. As she was being shown the website, her comments were in reference to those people promoting themselves on the site.”

Afrojack comments on his relationship with Paris Hilton

Afrojack was recently interviewed by a journalist from

Q: It seems like you truly have an emotional connection with the experience that you create through music. But back to Paris, did you teach her how to DJ? What was your involvement in her DJ career?

A: She’s a good friend of mine-well, let me rephrase it, used to be a good friend of mine-we were working on music together but she never said anything about the whole DJ thing so I didn’t really have anything to do with it. I didn’t know about it until the press release. It’s funny but I don’t care.

Q: Would you consider working with her now?

A: Basically, what’s more important than music to me is family and friends and I will always be open for family and friends. Even if, for example, you. You’re interviewing me right now, you come to Philadelphia, we do another interview, and we’re like ‘Oh my God’ and we become best friends. Then you say, ‘I want to become a producer.’ An interviewer turning into a producer, people will say, ‘Yeah that’s impossible she’s a journalist’ but if you’re my friend, what kind of friend would I be if I didn’t help you? On the other hand, if we’re friends and you don’t ask me for my help or anything then you start talking about how I taught you-well, I didn’t. Then I’m pissed off, that’s not nice. Don’t bullshit me.

It was a weird situation but I don’t think it should get too much more attention, I’m pretty sure it was a one time thing and it happens. Personally, we’re still okay. I don’t have anything to do with her whole DJing thing and I have to say that if someone says, ‘Oh Afrojack taught me how to DJ’ and you can’t DJ, that kind of sucks for me.
