David Roger slams Don Chairez over Paris Hilton ad

According to Las Vegas Review-Journal, Don Chairez recently said: “The message I’m trying to send to voters is that in traditional Las Vegas politics, money talks. There are two standards of justice. If you’re a regular middle-class person who can’t afford a high-power lawyer, you will not get as good a deal as someone who can afford a high-profile lawyer.”

David Roger later argued: “If we were to take that case to trial, we would be accused of grandstanding. No matter what we did, she would get probation at the end of the day. We fashioned a resolution that would give us complete control in this case.”

“When you run a countywide race, a lot of people contribute to the campaign. I’ve received campaign contributions from broad sections of the community including police officers, prosecutors and defense attorneys,” he said.

It was reported that Cy Waits made contribution to David Roger’s campaign in February 2010. Paris Hilton’s lawyer also contributed to his campaign. All these contributions were made months before Paris got arrested in late August in Las Vegas.

“I don’t care that congressmen and senators sell their souls to campaign contributors, but district attorneys and judges shouldn’t do it,” Chairez said.

David Damore, a political science professor at University of Nevada, also disagrees with Chairez’s ad, which tries to fool people into believing that Paris got a “sweetheart” deal: “It’s certainly a hook because it’s something that got a lot of national attention. But there wasn’t a lot of fallout from it. There was not a lot of criticism that she got a sweetheart deal. It’s an uphill battle. Roger is popular; he’s got all the establishment folks behind him.”

Paris Hilton stars in a new family movie “The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation II”!

    Reported by Stitch Kingdom

ABC Family and Starz Media will once again celebrate the holidays together this season, with the network buying the U.S. cable TV rights to the new live-action holiday movie, “The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation,” as part of its November “Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas” programming event. A Starz Media presentation, the two-hour original movie, a sequel to last year’s “The Dog Who Saved Christmas,” makes its worldwide premiere on ABC Family on Sunday, November 28 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. Jeffrey Schenck and Barry Barnholtz are executive producers on the film, which was written by Michael Ciminera, Richard Gnolfo and Peter Sullivan, from a story by Schenck, Sullivan, Ciminera and Gnolfo. Michael Feifer directed the movie.

“Dog” features Paris Hilton (in her first voice-over role) as “Bella,” a French poodle who becomes the target of inept thieves during a holiday getaway. Returning as the voice of the misguided guard dog “Zeus,” in pursuit of Bella’s affections, is Mario Lopez. The movie also stars Gary Valentine (“The King of Queens”), Dean Cain (“Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” “Out of Time”), Elisa Donovan (“Clueless,” “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers”), Joey Diaz (“The Deported,” “The Longest Yard”), Kayley Stallings (“Monk”), Brennan Bailey (“My Sister’s Keeper”), Mindy Sterling (the “Austin Powers” trilogy), Catherine Oxenberg (“Watch Over Me,” “Dynasty”), with Adrienne Barbeau (“Maude,” “Carnivale”).

“We had great success last year with ‘The Dog Who Saved Christmas,’ so it was an easy decision to revisit our favorite dog, Zeus, the Bannister family, and their holiday misadventures,” Starz Media Executive Vice President of Worldwide Distribution Gene George said. “And we couldn’t be happier to once again help ABC Family kick off its ‘Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas’ event. ABC Family is the ideal place for this family film to debut.”

“We’re very excited to be partnering again with Starz Media on this sequel,” said Tom Zappala, Executive Vice President, Program Acquisitions & Scheduling, Disney ABC Television Group. “Last year’s ‘The Dog Who Saved Christmas’ stood as one of the network’s biggest hits during our enormously popular holiday programming event.”

In its November 2009 television premiere on ABC Family, “The Dog Who Saved Christmas” became one of the season’s most-watched cable movies in Total Viewers (4.1 million).

Anchor Bay Entertainment, Starz Media’s market-leading home entertainment division, will release the movie on DVD just 10 days later, on December 7, 2010.

Paris Hilton wanted for mayor in Kerikeri, New Zealand

Reported by Northern Advocate (New Zealand)

The Far North mayoral race has just been spiced up – a new candidate has come on board at the last minute, and she is the region’s first female mayoral hopeful.

Three Kerikeri men known only as Mike, Arthur and Greg, put up a sign on Kerikeri Rd to promote a candidate they say they would definitely vote for.

The men say the election race to date has been entirely lacklustre and it is their duty to spice things up, which they have done by introducing US socialite Paris Hilton to the mix.

They created a make-shift campaign billboard which was constructed out of a white bed sheet.

It bears an image of Hilton.

They stuck the sheet over a existing billboard on Kerikeri Rd with masking tape yesterday afternoon with the hope to get it up before 5pm traffic.

Mike says the election lacked glamour so they thought they would add some.

They say they have already voted but are tired of the election being such a “non-event”. Asked what Paris Hilton would bring the Far North they responded “glamour or […]” but then corrected themselves “no, we can’t say that, she brings the simple life”.
