Simple Life 5 Ratings Are In

The premiere of Simple Life 5 attracted excellent ratings, 1.3 million viewers. Simple Life 4 also premiere with the same amount of audience. For a network like E!, this is great news.

However, here’s the bad news: the numbers have been declining ever since. Just last Sunday, the show attracted a new low, 787,000 viewers. The previous Sunday, it pulled in just 890,000 viewers.

But still, Simple Life 5 is E! network’s highest-rated show of the week.

Apparently, this week, the bosses of E! are working on ways to get more press after Paris Hilton comes out of jail.

Let me tell you something, I know that you think the whole jail coverage would boost the ratings of the show, but I knew it wasn’t going to happen simply because most people were concentrated on that. Plus, she didn’t do a televised appearance.

Here’s the bigger problem. I personally believe that Simple Life 1, 2 and 3 were the best. The fourth season was the worse. The fifth season was better than the fourth, but not as good as the first, which is my favourite. I would say that I was much more excited to watch the episodes of the thrid season than this season.

Simple Life 5 seems to lack something. It isn’t like the first and second seasons. It lacks something that would make us want to watch more. Maybe it’s the casting, or perhaps, it’s just that the episodes aren’t really interconnected to make it look interesting. Or as I would say, it is “artificially” filmed like every other TV show on television. Nevermind if you don’t know what I’m talking about.

Simple Life 5 is fun to watch, of course, but that’s about it.

I received this infomation from several sources., and others.

Sales For Simple Life DVDs Are Up 24%

Sales of The Simple Life DVDs are up 24% from what they were a week ago, says 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Steve Feldstein. “All this non-stop coverage has got to be good for something,” he says.

But even a significant percentage gain like that didn’t exactly push The Simple Life DVDs to the top of the sales chart. As of Wednesday morning, The Simple Life — The Complete Fourth Season (‘Til Death Do Us Part) was at No. 1,482 on’s list of top-selling DVDs. The Simple Life — The Complete Third Season (Interns) was at No. 3,348, The Simple Life — The Complete Second Season (Road Trip) was at No. 2,747, and The Simple Life — The Complete First Season was at No. 4,066.

Taking a look at Hilton’s movies now out on DVD, they ranked even lower on the list. National Lampoon’s Pledge This!, a teen comedy in which Hilton plays the president of a snooty sorority, and the horror remake House of Wax, in which Hilton gets killed, didn’t even crack the top 5,000.

Hundreds of auctions for Paris Hilton items on eBay have ended without a single bid, from posters and photo CDs to autographed stills — including a hand-signed 8-by-10 for which bidding started at exactly one cent. No takers.

And of the items that did sell, the ones that poked fun at Hilton seemed to attract the most action, and the most bids. A black T-shirt emblazoned with “Lynwood Jail, Los Angeles County — The New Hilton” sold for $11.99, while a “Free Paris” shirt fetched $12.49.

Paris Hilton’s Stay At Lynwood Has Been A Nightmare

TMZ spoke with a jailer from L.A.’s infamous Twin Towers, where Paris stayed before returning to Lynwood jail. Our informant made it clear — Paris’ stay was a nightmare! From nurses to clerks and every other employee, the pressure of having Hilton and the drama that ensued was “way too much distraction.”

Our source said that while Paris was at the facility, the tension among workers was nearly unbearable. “The pressure affected everyone! At first, the idea of having Miss Hilton in our jail was exciting.” Apparently, that excitement was fleeting. In fact, the most exciting moment of the heiress’ stay, as revealed to TMZ, was her grand … or not so grand exit.

It’s safe to say that for the staff over at Lynwood, Paris’ release couldn’t come soon enough. At least, that’s the feeling in the mailroom!

Paris Hilton Will Do Her Interview With Meredith Vieira… Maybe

This is from Six Page; so don’t expect it to be 100% true.

Personnally, I would prefer her to do it with Barbara Walters.

Barbara Walters knows Paris Hilton and her family way better than Meredith Vieira, who is also a good choice.

Contrary to what this article reports, Barbara Walters was always close to the Hilton family.

NBC has agreed to pay as much as $1 million for Paris Hilton’s first after-jail interview, which will appear on the “Today” show, The Post has learned.

Sources told The Post the sit-down will be conducted by Meredith Vieira the day after the heir-head is sprung some time next week.

The deal has infuriated ABC executives, the sources said, because they were banking on Hilton’s first remarks as a free woman going to Barbara Walters, who has become close with Hilton’s mom, Kathy.

ABC was the front-runner until NBC Universal boss Jeff Zucker personally called Hilton’s father Rick and made the pitch, the sources said.

Hilton agreed to the interview, but said she’d only speak with Vieira because of “disparaging” remarks her co-host Matt Lauer made about her.

A spokeswoman for NBC did not return a call for comment.

Hilton’s spokesman Eliot Mintz said he “can’t confirm or deny” the report.

If Hilton’s jailhouse fan mail is any indication, the interview will fetch great ratings. She has received almost 5,000 pieces during her three weeks behind bars and she’s writing back to her admirers, authorities said yesterday.

Hunter Cross Talks About Paris Hilton

While many men may only dream of intimately bonding with Paris Hilton, Hunter Cross can say he’s actually made that dream a reality.

Featured on E!’s The Simple Life Goes to Camp, Cross co-stars with Hilton and Nicole Richie as a counselor at Malibu’s Camp Shawnee. Filming for the series’ fifth season, which debuted on Memorial Day helped Cross, a Maryland native, open his eyes to the Hollywood lifestyle.

“[At first I thought] Paris and Nicole were the typical born and bred Bel-Air girls, but they are just regular people who just happen to be under the microscope,” Cross tells However, he does admit that he was initially attracted to the series because of its leading lady. “Paris was one of the main reasons I wanted to do it,” the model says of his transition from Abercrombie & Fitch cover boy to TV star.

Lest you think this Hollywood hottie was simply eye candy for Hilton and Richie, Cross, 26, insists that he was schooled in the art of the not-so-simple life during his adolescence. “I was the one in my family who caught fish and hunted when we went camping,” he remembers.

Hilton, on the other hand, had a tougher time adjusting to her new surroundings. “Paris didn’t have her BlackBerry or cell phone,” Cross explains. “She and Nicole would try to get service and it was funny to watch them run through the woods with their BlackBerry up in the air trying to find some sort of signal,” he says with a chuckle. “Every once in a while they would get one little signal and they would be like “I got one!’”

After five weeks of filming, Hilton and Cross became fast friends who still keep in touch via text messages and once-a-week emails. The last time Cross saw the heiress in person was at her Memorial Day bash, and he continues to support her while she’s behind bars.

“I sent her flowers after Memorial Day telling her that people love her,” he says. “She is an amazing, smart woman and she’ll be stronger after this.”

Paris Hilton Got A Massive Amount Of Fan Mails

Paris Hilton has no shortage of jailhouse reading material.

And, according to a Hilton source, it’s the only thing saving her from terminal boredom. “I don’t know what she’d do without all the fan letters,” the source tells of Hilton, who is expected to be released from Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood on June 25.

During an interview with Fox News Channel’s On the Record With Greta Van Susteren, Hilton’s mother, Kathy, expressed a similar sentiment. When Paris isn’t looking “at the ceiling” or staring “at the walls,” her mother told Van Susteren, “She’s reading a lot of her fan mail, and family letters and friends, and basically just reading and just sitting there thinking.”

Our Hilton source claims that the jailed heiress, who is being kept in the facility’s medical clinic, has been told by guards she has probably received more mail than any other inmate in the history of L.A. County jail system.

The insider also says that Hilton spends a lot of her time reading the letters sent to her because she finds very few of the books on the jailhouse librarian’s cart very interesting.

But when asked to confirm whether Hilton the bibliophile has set the county’s inmate mail record, jail spokesman Steve Whitmore told Us, “I don’t know.” Whitmore added, “We didn’t know how much mail [Robert] Blake was getting when he was incarcerated, or [Charles] Manson in the ’60s.”

Whitmore did confirm that jail officials open every piece of mail before delivering it to inmates, and that for Hilton it is no different. “Paris is being treated the same as every inmate, all mail is monitored,” Whitmore said.

Luckily for Hilton, although she is only allowed to see two visitors at a
time (and only on weekends), the jail doesn’t limit the amount of mail any inmate can receive. “No, there’s no limit,” Whitmore says. “But everything is monitored and managed.”

    Letter From Paris Hilton

With all her free time in jail, Paris Hilton is reaching out to fans by answering their letters, one of which was obtained by E! Online.

“I read your letter and just wanted to thank you for your kind words of love and support,” reads the letter to an unidentified fan. “The fact that you took time out of your day to write me truly means the world. Especially at such a difficult and scary time in my life.”

A rep for Hilton confirms the authenticity of the letter saying: “That letter was written by Paris. She’s been trying to respond to her fans as they write, personally.”

The note, written in print on plain stationery, continues: “But I am being strong and trying to make the best out of the situation. And the letters I’m receiving really do put a smile on my face as I sit here in my cell, sad and alone.”

The letter is signed “Love always, Paris Hilton” with hearts dotting the i’s and “xoxo” under the signature.

Hilton’s mother, Kathy, told FOX News’s Greta Van Susteren that her daughter is keeping busy by “reading a lot of her fan mail and family letters” since she began her jail sentence on June 4. (She’s due to be released on Monday.)

Earlier this month, Hilton made a Father’s Day card for her dad, Rick Hilton.
