Paris Hilton in dispute over auction of her diaries, personal items

Paris Hilton’s diaries, along with photos of her in various stages of undress, are among a trove of the celebutante’s personal affects that have found their way into the hands of a broker aiming to sell them.

David Hans Schmidt, known for handling deals involving celebrity porn, is trying to auction off the Hilton belongings, which had been locked away in a Los Angeles-area storage locker until a few months ago.

    The pricetag? $20 million.

Schmidt told the Los Angeles Times the items include 18 diaries in which Hilton recounts past sexual dalliances, celebrity encounters and other adventures. Also included are photographs of Hilton at “wild parties” on yachts and in private homes, as well as her computers, clothing, videos and furniture.

Hilton’s publicist, Elliot Mintz, has said the belongings were “illegally seized” from the storage facility, but would not comment on Schmidt’s description of the items because he has not seen them.

Mintz said the belongings were left at the storage facility during a 2004 move. The items were sold to an unidentified buyer after a “bureaucratic foul-up” resulted in payments not being credited to the heiress’ account.

Hilton was “incredibly upset and angry” and felt “victimized,” Mintz said, adding her lawyers are threatening legal action against anyone in possession of the items.

Of the videos, Mintz told The Associated Press he was certain there are “personal moments” on the tapes, but added “we’re not talking at all along the lines of the infamous videotape.”

In late 2003, a sex tape made with then-boyfriend Rick Salomon surfaced just before the start of Hilton’s reality TV series, “The Simple Life.”

Schmidt declined to describe the diaries’ contents, but said they include “everything that would be dear to a woman’s heart — relationships, personal feelings, sex, love, breakups, sexual experiences — all those little things that make up a little girl’s life. Her deepest, darkest secrets.”

Paris Hilton faces slander and harassment lawsuits

Paris Hilton is accused of spewing “vicious lies” about an altercation with a romantic rival at a London nightclub, and harassing a business promoter in two lawsuits set for court this month.

The first suit pits the hotel heiress-actress against diamond heiress-actress Zeta Graff, who is seeking at least $10 million in damages for Hilton’s comments in a July New York Post story.

The paper reported that Graff who once dated Hilton’s then-fiancee, Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis went “berserk” at the nightclub, tried to strangle Hilton and attempted to steal her diamond necklace.

Graff denies the report and claims Hilton said “I’m going to destroy you” after trying to oust her from the club, according to the suit.

Former Hilton publicist Rob Shuter said in a deposition that Hilton asked him to help plant the story and that he gave the paper comments attributed to himself, Hilton and anonymous sources that were dictated by Hilton.

Hilton spokesman Elliot Mintz declined to comment on the case.

A Jan. 17 hearing is scheduled near Los Angeles to consider Hilton’s request for more information about the damages claim.

A hearing also is set for the same day on the second lawsuit in which promoter Brian Quintana, 37, alleged that Hilton harassed and badmouthed him in the news media and threatened his life. He is seeking a restraining order.

“I can assure you that when all of the facts are revealed in this matter, they will show that the victim is, in fact, Paris Hilton,” Hilton’s spokesman said.

PETA names Paris Hilton worst-dressed of 2005

Move over Mr. Blackwell, PETA has issued its own “worst-dressed” list — based on fur, not style.

Paris Hilton was named the year’s worst-dressed celebrity by the Norfolk, Va.-based animal rights group Thursday. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals cites the hotel heiress/reality TV star for wearing fur coats.

Hilton is followed on the 2005 worst-dressed list by her friend Kimberly Stewart (“she and best bud Paris are so clueless about animals” writes PETA), Lisa Gastineau, Victoria Gotti and Tara Reid.

Martha Stewart headed last year’s list, but has recently reversed course. In September, the domestic diva hosted a PETA-produced video on fur and said, “I used to wear real fur, but, like many others, I had a change of heart when I learned what actually happens to the animals.”

Alicia Keys and Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham, both previously accused by PETA, have also since said they’ve given up fur.

Paris is the worst celebrity dog owner

When it comes to celebrity dog-parenting skills, Joss Stone is tops and Paris Hilton is the worst, according to an online poll of readers of two dog magazines.

Stone, who has a poodle named Dusty Springfield, volunteered for the North Shore Animal League America after seeing images of pets stranded in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Wilma, said The New York Dog and The Hollywood Dog magazines, which conducted the poll.

The 18-year-old British singer also recorded a public service announcement seeking support for the homeless pets of the Gulf Coast.

“Joss is a huge advocate for shelter dogs and it’s not just talk,” said Leslie Padgett, editor of the magazines. “This year, despite an incredibly hectic schedule, she went out of her way to help the dogs of Katrina and Wilma.”

Hilton, a 24-year-old hotel heiress and star of The Simple Life, was voted the world’s worst celebrity dog owner.

“First she loses Tinkerbell, then she ditches her for a cuter dog, then replaces that dog with a ferret, then a kinkajou monkey and then, I gather, a goat,” Padgett said in a statement. “Recently Tinkerbell was spotted back in Paris’ arms. But how long will she be in favor this time?”

Stone narrowly edged out Ashley Olsen, who adopted a mixed-breed from the Animal Haven Shelter in Flushing, N.Y. Tori Spelling, a pug owner who has “tirelessly campaigned” for the Much Love Animal Rescue in Los Angeles, placed third.

The poll was conducted over a three-month period among visitors to the websites thenydog.com and thehollywooddog.com. Results were released Friday.

E! Entertainment Television to air fourth season of ‘The Simple Life’

Feuding ex-friends Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie will take “The Simple Life” to E! Entertainment Television in a new format that allows them to have nothing to do with each other.

Fox had declined to air a fourth season of the one-time reality hit, but E! said Monday it would show 10 new episodes starting next spring.

The fourth season will have Hilton and Richie taking turns playing a “wife” and running households, with the family involved each week deciding which of the two did a better job.

If Hilton and Richie are still not talking, the format allows for filming to take place with each woman not coming into contact with the other, said Chris Alexander, spokesman for Twentieth Century Fox Television.

E! has also acquired the rights to rerun the first three seasons of “The Simple Life.”

Paris Hilton unhurt in minor crash in Hollywood

Paris Hilton was unhurt early Wednesday in a minor car accident as she left a Hollywood nightclub, said Hilton’s publicist, Jack Ketsoyan.

Hilton was a passenger in a silver Bentley that a companion drove into the back of a large commercial truck, scratching the hood of the car.

The mishap was captured on videotape and aired on television and the Internet.

Los Angeles police Officer Michael Lopez said no one was cited after the mishap. The name of the driver was not immediately available from police.

“They decided to leave the scene because the paparazzi was there,” he said.

Lopez said the Bentley stopped again near the scene and the occupants were told by police to leave the location. Hilton was seen on the videotape blowing a kiss to the officers.

Paris Hilton subpoenaed as witness in LA criminal case

Paris Hilton has been subpoenaed as a witness in a criminal case.

“She’s not charged with anything,” district attorney’s spokeswoman Jane Robison said Tuesday. “She just happens to be a witness.”

The case involves burglary, robbery, kidnapping and carjacking charges against Darnell Riley, 28, who was arrested Jan. 22, 2004, for allegedly breaking into the home of “Girls Gone Wild” creator Joe Francis and trying to kidnap him, Robison said.

Riley pleaded not guilty, said his attorney, Ronald Richards. However, one of Riley’s associates allegedly told Hilton of Riley’s alleged involvement.

“That was the basis for the probable cause to locate my client’s photo, which coincidentally Joe Francis identified,” Richards said.

The subpoena was served at the hotel heiress’ Hollywood Hills home last week. Her spokesman, Elliot Mintz, said she will “comply with the law” but “I don’t see what contribution, if any, she’s going to be able to make in that case.”

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 21. It was not known whether Hilton will be called to testify.
