Paris Hilton loves Simple Life

SILVER-spoon brats Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie might take the second installment of their hit show, ‘The Simple Life,’ to mild-mannered Brooksville, Florida, population 7,264, whether locals like it or not.

To date, the Central Florida town’s lone claim to fame has been its proximity to Weeki Wachee, the 1950s-era mermaid theme park 12 miles away. But townspeople might find the eyes of America upon them if ‘Simple Life’ producers find what they want during an upcoming scouting session.

Bunim-Murray Productions and Fox Television have put the call out for ‘All-American families’ and will be auditioning potential host families at Hernando County Fairgrounds in downtown Brooksville on Saturday.

The show’s first season saw the hotel heiress and pop star progeny shacking up with a family in teeny Altus, Ark., where they shocked residents with their irreverent hijinks and rampant libidos. ‘The Simple Life 2’ will find the spoiled-silly 22-year-olds on a cross-country road trip, alighting on heretofore wholesome families along the way. Host family auditions are also slated for Grand Canyon Village, Ariz., and Lafayette, La.

In Brooksville, reaction to the duo’s potential visit was mixed. ‘We’ve got some who are totally opposed, some who think it’s fun and some who think it’s not going to happen,’ said City Clerk Karen Phillips, who passed along names of potential host families to producers. ‘I’m kind of leery because I don’t want us to look like a laughingstock.’

Shooting for ‘The Simple Life 2’ is expected to last less than a month, with the series airing by year’s end.”
