I’ve been thinking a lot lately about Paris’ projects. A couple days ago i decided to look back at some articles from 2006 and 2008 where it was discussed the success of some of her projects. I saw that many people considered her debut album a flop (it sold almost 200.000 copies in the U.S. and over 600.000 copies worldwide). However, some people say it’s a “moderate success”. I don’t actually know if those numbers are good or bad as most of what Paris does is extremely criticised and blown out of proportion. So, ¿how did the album do? … As for her movies, it’s not secret Paris has had a hard time trying to gain respect from the industry. Her first significant role (House of Wax) received mixed-reviews and the movie was a commercial success. She acted in two movies in 2006 that flopped and appeared in The Nottie and the Hottie, which did extremely bad too. However, her role in Repo! was well received by some critics and the movie did pretty well in its very limited release. She then did a voice-over role in an animated film in 2010 for ABC Family that attracted good ratings (2.6 million) and did The Bling Ring, for which Paris is said to be back into the spotlight.

Her shows have been, mainly, successful. The Simple Life was iconic and the first season of My BFF was a hit (the second failed to get ratings). The british version of the show is sometimes considered a bomb and sometimes a moderate success. The dubai version had famously problems to come out, and i did’t even know if that show did well enough. Her latest show, the one from 2011, was a big failure.

It’s not crear to me which of her projects has been successful. I don’t know if the numbers for her album were respectable or the ratings for the british BFF were good enough. ¿What do you guys think? ¿Which of her projects has been successful and which has been a failure? Make it crear to me, please.

Thank you.

Hi Fred!

Pardon me;

What does “crear” mean to U? [Third paragraph, in first & fourth lines]

(i didn’t find this word in my dictionary)

Do you mean “carrier” OR “career” OR Sth else (Care + Ear)?

He meant “clear”.

Fred, it’s a complicated question. Keep in mind that a lot of info are kept confidential, only those involved in those projects know whether they were a success or a failure. Sometimes when a project fails for an investor, for her it’s still a success due to the amount of publicity the project generates.

Also, they say that TWATP was a flop. Maybe it was a flop in the US, but the production company can still sell to other channels overseas. Paris is not limited to the US.

Album, I guess it depends on how much it cost to produce it. Again, we don’t have such info.

Hottie/Nottie, she said it did well on DVD, but I don’t know. Although, it definitely did not do well in theaters.

So, it’s really a mix, and no definitive answer.

Honestly, I would say it’s her business that has been most successful. Fragrances, handbags and shoes do very well!

Just wanted to point out that The Dog Who Saved Christmas (the ABC Family TV movie) was live action, not animated. I don’t get why people keep saying it was animated, but it wasn’t, so…

I meant “clear”. I know her business is really successful, especially her fragrances. But as a performer, she hasn’t gotten the success she hoped for. I don’t know, i’d love to know exactly which projects have been successful in the entertainment industry for Paris.

Btw, we all should buy her album. ¿What do you expect from it? ¿How do you think it will do when it comes out? ¿Is it gonna be a success o a failure?

She will have to promote heavily.

I really don’t know. Speaking of the album, still no new single. :/

Isn’t anything over 500,000 considered GOLD ?

Since Paris sold over 600,000 copies worldwide I’d say she did very well at the time.

Her album outsold Christina Aguilera’s past two albums combined, so I’d say it did pretty well.
