Candidate Don Chairez attacks prosecutor David Roger by using Paris Hilton in a new ad

Reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal / Edited by PHS

In the first negative television ad in the Clark County district attorney race, candidate Don Chairez suggests his opponent, incumbent David Roger, last week gave Paris Hilton a “sweetheart deal” in her recent speedy conviction on felony cocaine charges.

The quid pro quo Chairez alleges involves a $10,000 campaign contribution Hilton attorney David Chesnoff made to Roger’s campaign.

In this video (below), one of many regarding Chairez’s campaign posted on YouTube, the challenger makes it very easy for viewers to pick up what he’s putting down. It’s all very entertaining, of course, but other than the stunning speed in which Hilton’s case was adjudicated — 24 days from her arrest on the Strip Aug. 27 to her guilty plea and sentencing on Sept. 20 — there’s nothing in the way the socialite was treated that’s too far beyond the pale for any first-time drug offender.

Significantly, Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joseph Bonaventure told Hilton she would spend a year in the Clark County jail if she gets in any trouble other than traffic tickets over the next 12 months.

Don Chairez must be counting on the public’s stupidity to think that David Roger gave Paris a “sweetheard” deal because the media pounded on the public’s consciousness that she was supposed to get a jail sentence!

That add was in really poor taste. I hate politics.

The public isn’t “stupid”. Most people are furious that Paris a third time offender, got a misdemeanor charge, where possession of cocaine is a felony. A felony is punishable with a MINIMUM of one year in prison. It’s not so much about Paris–just that if this were a poor black man, he would be in prison right now.

Most lawyers agree that she got a fair deal. They agreed that the charge was a misdemeanor. Even if she hadn’t gotten a plea deal, they would’ve still charged her with a misdemeanor, and they would’ve not sent her to jail! I didn’t make that up.

The public can be stupid, at least some portion of it. The fact that people hate her because they are jealous of her and other celebrities is stupid. They let themselves be fooled by the media and their distortions. Even in politics, the fact that they voted for someone like Bush twice shows that they can act stupid and say stupid things.

The thing that scares me is when a judge, like judge Sauer, gets influenced by the media and public and gives a harsher sentence. Thankfully, this time, she was able to avoid the insanity.

Paris is NOT a 3rd time offender.

“Sarah” above is full of malarky. Most haters are.

The traffic court misdemeanor charge Paris had some years ago is already past the statue of limitations.

This new misdemeanor case was a fair deal because the amount of coke was so small.
Everyone else gets pretty much the same deal in Nevada.
