Chat with Paris Hilton on Facebook while the premiere of “The World According to Paris” is being aired

Press Release by Oxygen

OxygenLive, Oxygen’s award winning co-viewing experience is moving to Facebook for the premiere of “The World According to Paris,” featuring actress, entrepreneur and socialite Paris Hilton. This announcement is being made on the heels of the ‘TV of Tomorrow Show’, the annual global gathering for executives, technologists and creatives working in the interactive and multiplatform television industry. Oxygen has developed a custom viewing application for Facebook Platform that will feature a live video stream and chat functionality so fans can chat live with each other and Paris Hilton during the series premiere on Wednesday, June 1st. “Paris Live” begins at 9:45 PM ET/PT, fifteen minutes prior to the start of the first episode of “The World According to Paris.”

The Facebook application is an extension of Oxygen’s two-screen experience OxygenLive in which fans gather with talent weekly around its ‘Live Out Loud’ programming in real time while a show airs. The app is the product of internal insights and data collected over the last year and a half. Oxygen identified emerging trends that supported a more personalized solution for social co-viewing. To serve this demand, Oxygen built the OxygenLive Facebook app to allow fans to either attend the party with a broad base of fans on “The World According to Paris” Facebook Page or host the experience on their personal pages and hand pick the friends they want to invite to “their” party. All fans will have the same access to Paris and the live video stream and will be able to ask her questions and see responses as she posts them.

“We’re focused on the next generation of co-viewing and we believe hyper-curation of friend groups plays a key role,” said Jennifer Kavanagh, Vice President, Digital, Oxygen Media. “Oxygen is offering its audience the same chance to connect with talent and each other around their favorite shows, just with less noise and in more places.”

Hilton will do an exclusive interview on Facebook Live, Facebook’s official live video streaming channel, to promote her live premiere party on Facebook. In addition, real-time agency Wiredset worked with Oxygen to develop the integrated Facebook experience and will leverage the Trendrr platform to monitor and measure the programs’ success.
