David Letterman Interviews Paris Hilton

Here’s the full interview:

Ah…! I’ve been a bit fooled by the media and haters. I didn’t see the interview with David Letterman last night. Unfortunately, there are 1000 people wanting to watch TV in this house and today, I was out the whole day, but I saw a clip and commented about it yesturday.

Contrary to what the media and some haters are saying, this wasn’t an embarrassing interview that would make Paris sad and cry. However, she seemed pretty annoyed by it. David Letterman never really was/is a hater I believe, but he likes to follow the crowd and doesn’t care about her projects. Well, it’s obvious. But you don’t have to agree with me.

The audience didn’t have a hateful attitude as some were saying if you pay close attention, except a few. One or two people were laughing because they think Paris is a joke, especially when she started talking about her movie, but they don’t know anything. Most of the interview was about her jail time which was a complete waste of time. And everything they talked about… we, the fans, had already heard. We learned absolutely nothing new because Letterman doesn’t ask new questions.

One of the best questions that Letterman asked Paris is whether she prefers singing and acting. Paris didn’t answer directly, but said she liked Repo! because she sings and acts in it. Oh yes, Letterman introduced her by saying “she’s a recording artist and a movie star”. Hearing that made me feel very good!

All in all, it wasn’t such a bad interview, especially towards the last half of the interview. Letterman was a bit pushy, but deep inside, he wasn’t trying to hurt her, but just doing his job as a comedian. It’s just that he went a bit too far. Saying that her jail experience could be her legacy is degrading and not something to laugh about. But Paris handled it like a pro as always! He sometimes acts like a hypocrite. He interviews people and then, laughs at them by making jokes about them when they’re not on the show, but I don’t think he’s a bad person. About him drinking the fragrance, don’t worry, I’ve seen many interviews with him and Paris, he’s done way more crazy things like this many times. Knowing Letterman, it wasn’t a diss or anything.

If I had the power, I would ask Paris to stop doing these pointless interviews for these major networks. At this rate, we’re never going to get the answers to our questions. I’m working on a project and trying to get Paris involved, but so far I haven’t received a response from her, but we’ll see.

Paris stayed on top of the situation. Even Paul Shaeffer (sp?) said Paris handled Dave very well.

Did you get the feeling that maybe Dave was on something, or maybe he had had too many drinks at lunch?
Him guzzling her cologne seemed a little odd even for Dave.

Dave managed to pull himself together toward the end and ask some questions. But basically he acted like a complete asshole toward a very sweet girl.

To tell you the truth Jen,

I’m not really shocked to see this. David has almost always been like this, but I believe because they were talking about her jail time, everyone started to talk about it and over-exaggerate. I’ve seen so many interviews between him and Paris. He’s always like this, but he isn’t very serious.

This time, however, he went too far, and that kinda alerted everyone, but some haters are acting as if David smacked her or something, but really, knowing him, I think he was just playing with her.

Many people forget the last part as you mentioned. Of course, the haters don’t talk about it. They like the first part. I say I want to hear more about her movies and music and projects. There was so much more to talk about, but David knew the audience wanted to hear about her jail experience.

You see what we go through? You get all excited for an interview and then after you finish watching it, you end up disappointed, while the rest of the public think it is a great interview. Maybe some fans don’t feel this way, but I always do.

Haters will jump on anything but they can’t bring Paris down. She is beyond their reach.

what an ass! He should’ve respected her wishes of NOT talking about her jail sentence anymore. She went on the show to promote the film and fragerance, but she got VERY little time to promote. He should be ashamed.

Well, after watching this, I kind of felt there’d actually a little embarrassment going through the whole interview, especially for the first half, I figured that maybe they were expecting for different topics to talk about at the first place…However, I enjoyed the last half as both of them handled it quite well and it appeared to be more humorous – love the effort that DL put in to cheer up the situation by drinking the fragrance (ha~that’s funny indeed)

My most love part is that at one point, Paris did made herself clear that she’s moving on these days and that the jail thing is SO long time ago!…That’s cool!…She showed more career-centred now it makes her as having a sparkling persona.

Now that I’ve seen it, Letterman just comes across as an inconsiderate doddery and possibly drunk or senile old fool! He did seem genuinely sorry that he might have made Paris sad at one point and she did seem both a little hurt and annoyed with the whole thing. What an ass he was and it’s his loss if Paris doesn’t stoop to his idiot show anymore.

That’s Paris’ problem at the moment. Neither Dave, nor most other people, take her seriously. In the Letterman interview in the Extra Paris section, he simply talked about what nightclubs to go to. He, nor most people, cared about her album or her movies. This time he talked about jail, probably because he believed that’s all she had to talk about that people would find interesting. Next time it might be her dogs. Who knows? She’s just going to have to stay serious about her work for a LONG time before most people care about what she says or does that does not involve bars or parties.

She’d also be wise to continue going on his show, because, right now, the media have the power. She gets on ET or Extra or in People mag, etc. However, it doesn’t seem like “wider exposure” outlets, like the Today Show, Barbara Walters, Oprah, or even Jay Leno are banging down her door to get an interview with her. Then again, she may show up on Good Morning America next week.

One other thing. I think the interview let people see that she really isn’t the cartoon character she’s made out to be. Some of her real personality came out when she insisted, about 3-4 times, that she had other positive things to discuss.

Paris is often “overhandled.” I don’t know if it’s a lack of self-confidence on her part or her handlers, but she simply repeats the same canned answers. It doesn’t matter how many times she’s previously stated it. It’s like a politician with a speech or sound bite. They always say the same thing. They don’t want to get off script. In Paris’ case, she literally repeats answers verbatim. Whenever she’s asked about Repo, she always states, “It’s a horror/musical by DLB, who did all of the Saw movies, etc.” Verbatim. When Dave asked about how hard jail was, she gave the Larry King answer, “It was a traumatic experience, etc.”

I suppose that’s why, in a weird way, I was ok (enjoyed) with the interview. It almost forced her to let her personality out or think on her feet. In that sense, she stood up for herself and answered in a classy manner. As she gets used to going”off-script”, I’m sure she’ll be able to give as much as she takes and will do it in a fun and smart manner. She should go “off-script” more.

I actualy feel sorry for David Letterman, because he obviously made a complete ass of himself. Paris is a talented young woman, she made mistakes and she is trying to live a fullfilling life.
She does a lot for charity and David Letterman just kept digging a deeper hole for himself with those stupid questions and the audience was not that entertained by them, you can tell. why didn’t he ask questions about her charity work? or her family, sister and so on or even the interesting places that she has traveled. People do watch David Letterman to hear and see what people think and he has shown geniune interest in a lot of his guests. I’m sure Paris will never be on his show again!
Cheers to Paris for showing class on his show!!!! most guests would not have put up with his bull for as long as she did. Even Cher and Madonna told him off on his show, at least Paris had class

I agree with parisfan – she uses very often the same phrases. Remember last year when she did all these interviews about her album release.
Sometimes it’s funny when she starts with one phrase and you already know what she will say. I think she is still getting nervous with interviews; did you notice that she VERY often moves her leg when she is getting excited.
(especially in this Letterman interview)
I read somewhere in another interview with her that she doesn’t know what to say sometimes because of her shyness. Maybe that’s why she needs her scripted answers.

Letterman was pulled over for speeding and drunk driving a few years ago. How quickly people forget.

Parisfan is too harsh.

Paris Hilton at age 26 is no match for older and more experienced people. But so what.
Everyone learns as they mature, and Paris is getting her life on the right track.

Yeah I agree. She does often repeat the same answers, but I think it’s because they always ask her the same questions. If a question is new or unexpected, she doesn’t always answer it directly sometimes.

Imagine if one of us were interviewing her.
