Special Paris Hilton Interview With CBC

New Interview!

This is a very special interview that was conducted by one of Canada’s major news media, CBC. It was filmed as part of a documentary called “Paris Hilton Inc,” which aired last week on CBC. Now, before you freak out, no it’s not directly about Paris Hilton, but it’s more about the paparazzi, celebrities and the media’s money machine. Since it’s more and less about Paris Hilton, I just ignored it until CBC posted on their website this great interview.

In the first part of the interview, Paris is basically talking about her business, and the second one is more about the paparazzi, media and haters. By watching this interview, you get the impression that she’s more business-orriented. That’s partly true, but probably because questions focus on business and the media.

Anyway, it’s one of those rare decent interview… Loves it!

good interview, i tried watching thw whole thing, but the video isn’t very good. like, the clip you posted, it keeps stopping to rebuffer every 3-5 seconds so you need a lot of time and patience to view it.

I think it confirms what i’ve been saying in other posts about the celebrity paparrazi. They are engaged in a purely commercial venture, they are not real, legitimate media or journalists. However, they enjoy the same legal protections without adhering to the same rules or legal requirements as legitimate journalists, ie credentialing. this makes for a really dangerous situation. name one other purely commerical occupation where you can routinely endanger people and the general public for profit without any laws or accountabilty for your behavior? I’ll give you a hint, there isn’t any. This is unique to the paparazzi.

they hide behind press freedoms when it benefits them, but do not obey any of the rules or laws for journalists when it’s better for them to claim they are not media. They exist & operate in a legal no-mans land.

In CA, the entertainment industry is exempt from the credentialing laws that govern journalists. This process involves police background checks, fingerprints on file, postive ID, legal citizenship or immgration status, absence of prior criminal records of varying levels, etc. So while a real journalist must succomb to this process in order to work and get close to public people, the papparazzi do not. Real journalist also have some legal accountability (ie defamation of charachter) for what they print or broadcast, again paprazzi do not.

Papparazzi are the wild-wild-west! It’s a cash business, so business rules are easily skirted. There are no complete records of who is on the payroll with mags or what is paid out, no accountign whatsoever for behavior on the company’s part because the papparrazo are independents. That also means like I said, anyone can pick up an easy to use point-n-shoot digitial camera and go hunt celebrities. The ease of the camera means you don’t have to be a professioanl photog or cameraman. Because of this, it’s a free for all. Criminals, drug dealers, criminal gang members, pedophiles, murderers, parolees, anybody can just get close to the stars and their kids if they just pick up a digital camera. How nuts is that?

Some sites, X 17 for example, even recruit and hire illegal immigrants to shoot for them. They are infamous for seeking out and importing gang members from Brazil for their predtory tactics to hunt the stars. They don’t speak English, don’t have a driver’s license, but they can chase the stars all over town. They memorize the stars’ cars, license plates and security information and it’s off to the hunt!. Screw anybody who gets in their way. Again, it’s a cash business, so no records. if they cause an accident, they just run off and disappear and no one knows who they are or is accountable for them. These are also the paps who hang outside the clubs, restaurants and the stars homes.

there is a BIG difference between these stalkarrazzi paps and the media who are at red carpet events where there is security and controled access. This is where stars don’t mind being photographed and again because it is a more secure and controled environment so it’s safer. the media there, make not be credentialed, but they usually work for legitimate cable channels or are actually employees of a magazine they are there to represent. they are not street gang members or criminals.

So yeah, stars like publicity for their public life, but they want to be photographed in a safe way and to maintain their private life. media at controled access events is welcome, harassment in the streets, no. Because of the safety issue, that is not a distinction without a difference or the stars merely being fickle. it’s a very legitimate safety concern, for everyone.

First, the illegal immigrant card is a WEAK argument. I won’t go into the other illogical flaws of your comments, but how many of these stars’ nannies, gardeners, contractors, etc. are illegals (some are even criminals)? Like most other Americans, the celebs don’t check or don’t care. How many maids at the Hilton Hotels were illegals? That is a WEAK argument. There are about 12 million illegals in the US, picking our food, mowing our lawns, babysitting our kids, cleaning our hotel rooms, building our homes, etc. These stars don’t seem to care about the immigrants’ status then, do they? It’s only when they are put off by the paps that they seem to care. Or are they so selfish and somewhat ignorant enough to think that all 12 million make a living by taking their pictures. Hope that wasn’t harsh, but crying about illegal immigrants taking your picture and then not caring about illegals taking care of your children, remodeling your home, cleaning your hotel suite and the like is WEAK.

I think most of us know the difference between the stalkarazzi and red carpet press, and they are ALL in it for the money. The media, the stalkarazzi, the celebs, all of them want to make money and need each other. I also just don’t give a rat’s arse about when a celeb WANTS to be photographed, they can’t have it both ways. They need to stop being so hypocrticial. Period. You can’t use the stalkarazzi when you want to get publicity or make $$$ and then bitch that you only want them on the red carpet. See lohan getting paid to shop Do you think that she or the rest of the young hllywd crew would get these perks if they weren’t photographed doing it? Again, Paris gets paid for attending some of these clubs and events. She wouldn’t get paid without the stalkarazzi selling the pics to the mags and blogs. Her party reputation then helps her land “host” gigs for even bigger money. Also, that was definitely a photo op for Paris when she went to do her makeup when Britney left. They were together for a long time, including a stint afterwards at the Four Seasons. Paris went outside to get her pic taken and then walked back in to the event, with a short stint to “do her makeup” in between. That’s a good bit of media savvy on her part. Even Paris said on Larry King, it comes with the territory. I guess she changed her mind now. Oh well. You don’t get to pick and choose only red carpet events.

While I don’t like the paps, they also serve another purpose. They help expose some of the celebs poor behavior by catching them doing stupid and/or mean stuff that wouldn’t be seen on a red carpet. Drunkeness, firecrotch rants, fights, demeaning behavior towards their fans, calling people niggers, parking in handicapped spots, and many other things. I guess the celebs don’t want anything, especially illegal immigrant picture takers, to puncture the false images that many of them build up. (I don’t mean Paris.)

They definitely need to quit whining about privacy. Someone mentioned this before. If they have a project coming out, then even the ones that claim to value their privacy will discuss childhood abuse, substance abuse, awful marriages, infidelity, sensitive medical conditions, or whatever else it takes, no matter how private or embarrasing, just so that they can get on the Today show and mention their project for 30 seconds or get in a mag, preferably, the cover. If they want privacy, then shut up. I don’t want to know about all the problems in their lives, even if they have a project coming out and need a hit. Did you notice all the street pics of Pitt/Jolie when they had movies coming out at the end of the summer/beginning of fall? Pics of them out at night, pics with their kids in the park, picking them up from school, Brad or Angelina alone walking down the street. Now with their projects done, relatively nothing. What, did they start home schooling their kids or do they not need as much pub right now that their projects are done? Of course, Pitt managed to squeeze in a dig at Paris just for that extra little bit of pub. I guess he knew his movie was boring and wanted to gin up as much interest in his own life as possible. You know, if the movie sucks, at least get the public interested in the star, because they may buy tickets solely due to their interest in the star. Quit whining.

The media, including the stalkarazzi, need the celebs, and the celebs need the media, including the stalkarazzi.

Here’s an article from the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper. It discusses the works of one of the biggest “stalkarazzi” targets. She doesn’t seem that concerned with her safety, only the attention the stalkarazzi, and other press.

As for safety, enforce some traffic laws by giving both the celebs and the stalkarazzi the tickets they deserve. That’s it. ( I won’t go into the freedom of the press issues.)

Britney Spears has totally rejected the advice from virtually her entire management team, including her mother, Lynne, and is following her own, somewhat unconventional approach to ensuring she will continue to grace the covers of the celebrity magazines and supermarket tabloids she likes to call “the rag mags.”

“Even though her professional career and personal life are train wrecks and she seemingly is paying little attention to her appearance, she is doing everything she can to make sure she’s photographed almost daily,” a former Britney insider — who’s still in touch with Spears’ current staff — told me Saturday in Los Angeles.

Along with this source, this past weekend I also chatted with key staff members of several high-profile hotels, including the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills and the Beverly Wilshire. All told me the same story: Spears or one of her posse members makes daily calls to all the hotels — as well as various popular restaurants, nightclubs and upscale boutiques — to “find out what’s going on … who’s there today,” her ex-aide told me Saturday night.

“Britney is obsessed with keeping herself in the public eye. She has told me several times, “If they don’t see you [in the media], they forget you…. I’m not going to let that happen!’ ”

Part of this is Spears’ love-hate relationship with the paparazzi who trail her every move. While she has frequently complained about the pesky shutterbugs (to Matt Lauer, etc.), she recently has joked with the paparazzi and even has invited a few to hang out with her during various encounters in clubs and restaurants around L.A.

Sources at both the Four Seasons and Beverly Wilshire told me the singer and actress often calls the hotels herself, asking “What press junkets are going on today?” — to determine if stars will be present, to guarantee the paparazzi will be lurking outside.

– Sometimes, Spears’ approach backfires. A harried staffer at the Four Seasons told me she purposely told the entertainer “we were holding a [press] junket here for ‘Rendition,’ ” starring Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, who allegedly have been having a fling. In fact, those interviews took place Friday at the Beverly Wilshire, so when Spears arrived at the Four Seasons, there were no paparazzi to be seen.

“Britney walked in the front door and immediately turned on her heel, walked out and got back in her car and took off in a huff,” said my source, with a laugh.

Britney coud put a stop to the papps trailing her everywhere.

I also noticed that Paris seems to have a better handle on this than she used to.
Moving into a gated estate was a smart move to protect more of her privacy.

Hey guys, I just received the entire documentary “Paris Hilton Inc.”

It’s actually mostly about Paris Hilton, her business and projects. I was quickly looking at bits of the documentary, and I found very interesting passages. You guys should watch it.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to see until Friday because I have major exams this week, but this is an up-to-date documentary mostly about Paris, surprisingly. I shouldn’t have ignored it.

It’s also a bit bias, but it’s great! I’ll post more about it this Friday!

More and less against her, but I don’t know for sure. I have to watch the entire thing and then, judge it. It’s way better than the documentaries we’ve seen in the past.

This here is a pretty good interview. Sounds like Paris is doing what she enjoys and what makes her money, and she verbalizes it quite well.
People who try to run Paris down really ARE just jealous.

I think that it’s a good interview, too. It’s sounds like she’s accomplished and goal-oriented. From model to businesswoman, with some entertainment projects mixed in. She’s sounds much more confident and focused than she used to.

as usual you go completely off base in your effort to find fault or bash paris and other celebs. Nothing britney does has to do with how paris handles the media or justifies the papparrizi behavior with regard to public safety. Also, trying to play the illegal immigrant card for domesic workers is also a red herring. there is a difference between honest people and criminals and gang members. How racist to try and think other wise!!! Not everybody who enters the country this way is the same, so why do you paint them all with the same brush. How shameful of you!!!!

Again, the illegals in the stalkarrazzi wolf pack are indeed street gang members who are recruited by X 17 and other undesirable gossip sites specifically for their predatory prowess to stalk the stars. Why you think that is okay is beyond me.

Not off base, Britney is not the only one that calls ahead and desires pap attention. The gossip sites are undesirable only when they’re inconvenient for the celeb.

The rest of your post is somewhat silly. You brought up the illegal immigrant issue and mentioned a specific South American country (Brazil). Re-read your post. I didn’t bash Paris, but if you think that I did, then you must be associating her with the behavior that I mentioned. Yes, I am bashing other public figures who will do anything for pub, including those who bash Paris. See Brad Pitt, Witherspoon, Madonna, Chris Rock, Foo Fighters, Courtney Love, Senator Obama and so on. Yes, I’m bashing people that use the word nigger constantly or treat the people that provide them with a living, their fans, poorly. Behavior that wouldn’t be caught on a red carpet.

When they want attention, the celebs don’t care who takes their picture or where. How about the co-stars who find themselves in fake romances to gin up pub and are photo’d at the Grove, on Robertson, and elsewhere? They couldn’t care less who was taking their picture as long as it’s taken. Then, two weeks after the movie opens their just friends. They all play the game.

You apparently have enough info to know that they’re from Brazil, who employs them, and the status of their driver’s licenses. It doesn’t sound like you need government intervention or credentialing, you already have a ton of info on them. In fact, you have info relating to violations of immigration laws, employment laws, and traffic laws. Report them, but leave the media laws alone. Btw, everyone has accountability for causes of action such as defamation of character, libel, slander etc. Some are statutory and some are torts of a different name. It doesn’t matter if you work for the New York Times or the stalkarazzi. (However, now is not the time for a tutorial).

How do you know if they have a valid driver’s license? In any event, I would assume that you would’ve wanted Britney off the streets as well considering her lack of a valid CA driver’s license or do you want to selectively apply the law. As stated, enforce the other laws, we could start with no driving without a license, reckless driving, etc., including the celebs.

If you’re really worried about their safety, try some more robust rehab programs, Promises doesn’t seem that effective. How many people did Lohan put in danger with her driving antics? What about that guy from Prison Break or 24(?) who wound up killing someone? How many people from Lost have DUI’s? Forget about all the drugs they put into their own systems, if the celebs promise not to dui and put other’s at risk, then the world may entertain their arguments about the recklessness of the paps. This would enhance their own safety and society’s as well.
