Oxygen TV: Very committed to “The World According to Paris”

ABC News confirmed today that the “screaming” incident did occur backstage at The View. What happened exactly has not been reported.

A source for Oxygen TV says that the TV network is “super committed” to Paris Hilton’s “The World According to Paris” despite the ratings, according to ABC News.

The source added: “Subsequent episodes have exciting storylines.”

The second episode of “The World According to Paris” airs tomorrow night at 10pm.

I really hope for better ratings now. The View interview was not good at all, they were really hard on Paris. I can understand that she was angry after that interview….

She should’ve just stuck with BFF, IMO. It got flack but seemed to do a lot better. I think the reason people like Simple Life & BFF over World is because those first two shows have themes; you know it’s not 100% Paris or the other cast members real lives, it’s easy to suspend your disbelief there & know a lot of it’s just for the show. I think Paris was putting so much emphasis on “this is all real, there’s nothing like it, it’s not like other celebs reality shows that are scripted” that we all expected another show like Paris Not France or Fearne Cotton & Paris Hilton. I know I was. And World isn’t that at all so far. I think the only part of ep 1 that seemed “real” was her fight with Cy & the Community Service. I kinda doubt Lexxie is even her PA honestly, she seems like an actress. The rest all seemed very setup. And we know her real life isn’t just partying & acting bratty, which is pretty much all the first ep showed, so I really hope future eps show her being this business woman that we saw in those truly real docos I just mentioned. As a fan, I’d rather see her business meetings & on the phone sorting out work related things then her at clubs & sitting around Nicky’s house all day. I know it may seem like I’m being harsh, I’m not. I just know Paris is capable of better, so I hope the show evolves to being a bit more real.

I’ve seen people saying that Lexie is actress Alexandra Dreyfus, from something called Lonelygirl15.

I want the series to have variety and show Paris in a lot of her real life situations (including having fun and letting her hair down) but I also know that Paris is capable of much better. As a fan, I’ve seen plenty examples of her sweet nature, warmth and her more mature side (and a more genuine playful side) many times over in interviews, meeting fans and scenes from documentaries and other series. When I criticise certain things from the show, a good part of it is that I want people to tune in and see ‘the real Paris’ that was promised to them and see her good qualities. I want the show to be good for her image, not turn casual viewers away thinking that the media was right about her all along. I think Paris wanted the show to reach a wide audience and please more than just the most non critical fans.

I would also hope that this site could be a place where fans could come and express differing opinions or concerns without others immediately jumping to ad hominem attacks, telling people they’re too old (when they weren’t too old to enjoy plenty of Paris’ past entertainment products), telling them they’re ‘choosing to misunderstand’ or easy labelling them as haters. But I won’t hold my breath! If wanting Paris to show the best of herself and win over new fans is hateful, so be it!

Both of you have basically echoed my feelings. The first episode really frustrated me because I felt like Paris let herself down. I also felt she let us (long time fans) down for letting herself come across the way she did. I know that’s a little melodramatic but as you two said, we all know there exists the woman that Paris said was going to appear on this show (mature, business savy, sweet, down to earth etc) Sadly, she wasn’t there. Even the ~real~ moment of her arguing with Cy… I honestly have no interest in seeing that. I want to see her working on her projects! I don’t mind a few personal moments with her loved ones… but Paris setting up Brooke with a new guy? I don’t care. Push Brooke to the curb and get back in the studio! We want that album! There’s that clip on youtube of back when Paris first started working on music, and it’s her in the studio writing lyrics, singing along and then drawing a rabbit. That’s the kind of stuff I’d love to see. I’d like to see Paris showing off her talents and brain. I understand where Paris was going with this show, I do… but it just doesn’t interest me. If it doesn’t interest a super fan…. how many other people is it really going to interest? I want this show to do well (I’m still confused with these ratings, like are they accurate or not?) but I don’t know if it can. I really think she is above a show like this.

Oh and Shosanna, don’t worry. Sometimes Paris fans are a little defensive but I think for the most part, it’s purely because they’re protective of Paris. It comes from a good place. But PHS really is the place to share you opinion. You’re all good here.

Thank you, Scot. I agreed with your recent posts on the series so far and the footage of Paris working on her music is a good example of the kind of thing it would be good to show a non fan.

I thought the questions made on The View were good ones, and I don’t think Whoppie and Barbara were harsh at all.
I’m just getting more and more disappointed with Paris…

It’s a shame. The questions were very good and I don’t think they were presented too harshly. But it was perhaps the wrong time and place. How often when someone is promoting a new show, film, book or album on these chat shows, do the presenters really take them to task or try to make the product seem flawed in some way? You don’t get them saying, “You said when you began work on your new album, that it was going to venture into new territory, but it’s actually just the same as your last three albums. What happened there?” So it was unfair to do something with Paris that they don’t do with others, but the questions themselves were interesting and for the most part (apart from the bitchy implication that perhaps Paris doesn’t do charity work at all “indeed, if it exists at all” – that was very unprofessional, inaccurate and rude) seemed to come from a good place with people who know Paris outside of the persona of this new show.

I see what most of you are saying, but this is her life. I’m sure they may add a few things in here and there, but this is what she does day to day and that is what she’s really like in real life. She is such a sweet and honest person, but she does make little comments here and there. It’s funny though! People take it the wrong way and think she’s just a bitch, but she’s not. She’s just expressing her feelings and thoughts like I do. She’s just being Paris. Each episode is going to be a little different. The first one just barely scratched the surface of her life. As we tune in to each episode, we’ll get to see more and more of what goes on day-to-day. Kind of like peeling an onion. You just have to stick around and not loose faith.

The second episode last night was very good.

Like I already said, the show’s format is fast paced and interesting.
It has both humor and serious occurences in it.

I also agree that Paris does have a right to express her opinions, just like everyone else, without being called a bitch.
