Paris Hilton buys more miniature pomeranian puppies from Calgarian dealer

Reported by Calgary Sun

They’re white, fluffy and nearly $1,400 an ounce — and according to Paris Hilton, Calgary has the best dealer around.

The sexy socialite has once again turned to a local breeder for her latest puppy purchase, to the tune of $25,000 for the pair.

That’s how much the reality TV show host paid Joanne Pedram, owner of Calgary-based Betty’s Tea Cup Yorkies, to personally deliver two miniature pomeranian puppies to Hilton’s Los Angeles home Thursday.

“We talk regularly, at least two and three time a week,” Pedram said.

“For the past month, we’ve been talking about maybe getting a new one — a girlfriend for Prince Hilton.”

Prince Hilton was the first puppy the hotel heiress purchased from Pedram, who specializes in selling the pocket-sized, and pricey, mini-dogs.

Originally named Mr. Amazing, the diminutive four-inch-tall puff-ball was dubbed as one of the smallest pomeranians in the world when Hilton purchased him last September.

One of Hilton’s new pups, a six-month-old, 12-ounce female, was a surprise gift for Hilton’s mother Kathy for her 35th wedding anniversary.

Delighted with her gift, the elder Hilton named the pooch “Luv.”

The other dog, Hilton’s newest pet, is a three-month-old female tipping the scales at just six ounces.

Naturally, she was named “Princess Paris, Jr.”

After news of Hilton’s first purchase broke last fall, demand for the pint-sized pups was overwhelming, Pedram said.

“A lot of people were calling, they were in really high demand,” she said.

“Now … it’s started again — I get at least 40 or 50 calls a day.”

Owning one of Pedram’s adorable dogs doesn’t come cheap.

With a long list of exclusive clients around the world, just being able to afford the $5,000 to $30,000 Pedram charges for her puppies doesn’t guarantee ownership.

“Not just anybody can own one of my dogs,” she said.

“If I don’t make a good connection with you, I don’t sell one to you — having the money doesn’t make you eligible for one of my dogs, I’ve turned down multiple people over the years.

“It’s got nothing to do with money, it’s about giving them a good home.”

Since first meeting last September, Paris and Pedram became fast friends.

“She’s a really good person,” she said.

“Everything they say about her in the paper is totally wrong.”

Pedram denies criticism Hilton is simply interested in buying the dogs as fashion accessories, noting the celeb truly loves and cares for all of her pets.

“She cares for them really well, they’re not just a piece of accessory for her,” she said.
