Paris Hilton going to London on Monday

Paris Hilton will be heading to London on Monday to start filming her British version of Paris Hilton’s My New BFF.

At the launch of her show, she said: “I go on Monday to London for a month. It’s my favourite city in the world. I go there all the time – I have a lot of friends there. I’ve already picked the whole cast and they’re amazing. The Brits are completely different. It’s going to be a crazy show. I’m so excited, I love the accent so I can’t wait to be hanging out with them.”

The show’s creator and producer Stella Stolper adds: “We found some great killer people. We were going to do it all over the world but we thought London was the next fun place because of the audiences. London get us, the talent, they’re fun, they’re so wild. We figured London was the next logical place because there’s no language barrier. We want to find the next Posh.”

I really don’t think this is or the american version of bff is a good career move for Paris

It’s not really so much the case of it being a good career move. I think the show is just there to promote her brand, because she does these projects (movies, TV show, music) in order to push her brand, but also because she wants to be an artist and actress.

Well, I haven’t had the chance to see the first episode, but I saw the casting special. Like others, I agree that the show doesn’t focus on Paris, but more on the contestants. I was never fond of the new reality show project . To me, it’s just another reality show.

The Simple Life was something else. At least, it was show that I really liked (first three seasons) and felt that it was something special. You kinda felt “attached” to it. I’m not suggesting that she should do another Simple Life, but no, I’m not really into this BFF thing. :/

I haven’t seen the first episode either. Noone is seeding it. I really don’t have good expectations of it (same with the new album alas, which is a shame as I love the first one so much but I’m really not into the Kylie type of pop music that Paris is promising the next one to be influenced by). I’m not into the idea of putting friends through trials, rather than just getting to know them in a friendly way. I know it’s all for fun and these people signed up on their own, but I’m just afraid that it’s hiding the sweeter side of Paris for ratings and will just give her enemies more ammo.

However, good or bad, the idea of doing versions for all over the world sounds like a severe over-milk! Won’t people get tired, including Paris? I think it would be a mistake if she concentrated on this for the next few years or umpteen versions of it, over other more varied projects. She didn’t want The Simple Life to outlast it’s welcome but at least that had the chance to be a bit different every season, whereas this is going to be the same basic reality show format. I’m sure even fans would get sick of too many different versions.

I know Paris can’t please everyone at once of course. I hope her new stuff wins her some new fans and all and I hope that another project that will interest me more will come along soon. I’ll always support Paris the person, even if I don’t like every individual project.

I think the problem of this show is that it re-focus on the idea of “Paris–bimbo–party–princess” that she so desperately was trying to be disassociated of.

i did my share of bad-mouthing the show idea when it was announced. mainly because i wanted better for paris. but now that it’s done, i just want it to be fun and in good taste. that said, i’ll definitely watch it & support paris.

however, my main interests are seeing Repo, hearing her new album and smelling fairy dust!

in a way i think it can be a smart idea. she introduces herself to the next generation of high-schoolers following her and can build some support and brand loyalty there to buy and enjoy her other products and projects.

if she can do that while marketing her other products to a more sophisticated crowd, she’ll expand her market potential and range. So for all of the above, i hope the show works and is a hit.
