Paris Hilton threatens legal action against a New Zealand publicity company

Written by thestar.co.za

Paris Hilton’s manager has threatened legal action against a New Zealand publicity company that is wooing advertisers to its empty billboards with a photo of the hotel heiress above the word “Vacant”.

Manager Jamie Freed told the Sunday Star-Times that Media5 did not have permission to use Hilton’s image.

Claiming it was just “a bit of fun”, Media5’s Adam McGregor said they had initially thought of using a New Zealand politician, “but Paris is much prettier”.

I don’t understand exactly what they’re trying to do. But that’s no “a bit of fun”. That’s rude, pain and simple. We laugh when people say Paris is vacant, but for a company to actually put that word on a Paris Hilton picture for “a bit of fun”, it’s rude.

And it’s not fun to make fun of a person so blatantly, even if it’s only the general public who vaguely thinks she’s “vacant”.

Cheap shot!

I agree that it’s no fun and a cheap shot. I certainly don’t think of Paris as vacant. I hope she bankrupts them. And the vacant idiots think that admitting she’s pretty makes their insult less of one? I wonder if they would find similar treatment of themselves as “a bit of fun”. In school bits of fun like that get called bullying and can cause a lot of distress to their victims (and it’s obvious a lot of bullies and attention seekers have never really left school).

you can see the billboard here: stuff.co.nz/national/3042467/Paris-not-laughing-at-vacant-billboards

I just think its absolutely rude and quite vulgar. Sure, they can say its all harmless and just suppossed to be a little joke but c’mon, that is just a low blow. I mean, Paris has made it quite obvious she doesn’t mind having a little laugh at herself, the latest example being her appearence on Supernatural. But this is just bad taste and a real low level of humor. Ugh. Paris, sue these fuckheads and show them what its like for them to have their bank accounts ‘vacant’. What idiotic twats.

That was really rude, but either way, they just can’t use their image for publicity without her permission. If she was asked to do it maybe (i.e., probably not) she would have played along, just like she did on Saturday Night Life in the ‘Paris Hilton Hotel’ sketch. To use her image to advertise a product without her consent was a lot ruder, I think.

I saw this on a gossip blog. It really is rude and mean spirited. I mean I would be so embarass if a picture of me was used in this style. She has every right to sue them and she should! NGL, the picture of her is pretty though!

What they’re doing is trying to get free publicity by using Paris Hilton’s name.

It’s an old ploy and they know exactly what they’re doing.
I hope Paris sues them.
