Paris Hilton will probably not the opening of the new Hilton hotel in New Zealand

The alpine and lake resort has been abuzz with rumours US socialite and reality TV princess Paris Hilton will travel there early next year for the official opening of New Zealand’s latest Hilton hotel.

Queenstown’s top marketing boss says it would be fantastic if the rumours were true. Paris, and the media exposure she would attract, would be welcome.

Destination Queenstown chief executive Tony Everitt is willing to talk to the Hilton hotel group about working in with their marketing plans for the opening.

“We’ll have to wait and see how the Hilton’s plans unfold,” he said.

But Hilton Australasia corporate communications manager Charlotte Seymour said: “Paris Hilton has not been invited to attend the opening of the hotel in Queenstown and on this occasion we will not be extending an invitation to Paris for the event.”

In January, Paris’s aunt, Jo Hilton – born in Auckland – told media her 29-year-old niece would visit New Zealand.

The Hilton hotel group announced earlier this month it had taken on a management deal for the Kawarau Falls stage one site on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. The site will house a 178 five-star hotel, The Hilton Queenstown, and a four-star, 98-room apartment-style hotel, The Kawarau Hotel, managed by Hilton.
