Taura Jackson: “[Paris’ album] will be out sooner than later”

Written by Kevin

Taura Jackson said that Paris still hasn’t decided on a record label yet (I think she’s having a hard time picking one that will give her the full budget and promo/advertisment she wants). She also says that she is now her assistant now; not sure if it’s for her music only or her career.

“She is such a busy woman but her music is a true love of hers and [her new album] will be out sooner than later,” Taura Jackson said.

Thanks to Kevin! 🙂

great, great. Im going to say early next year now.

on a different note a special Repo! website will be opening August 21 – littleglassvial.com I’m assuming this is was the site spoken about a few months ago where you will pay to get a members ship and you will get all special stuff like new music, videos and all things Repo! so that’ll be pretty great.

I really wish she’d find a label and release another album soon. I’m so excited and really looking forward to it. I hope with the upcoming album that she tours for it. I’d LOVE to see Paris in concert. It’d be so awesome.

I find it so cool that it was released on my birthday. How about another present this year, Paris?

scot,

That’s a day before the anniversary of the debut album, hehe. I wish we had more information about it.

But I have to admit, I don’t like this pay site thing. It would make more sense to release a CD with all these new materials.

And I want a Repo! 2. It would be great to see Paris in another Repo! movie!

The paysite is purely to make money so they can make more Repo! movies. If they were to release another CD it would cost them money to do.. where with this they only really have to pay for it to get set up and well they’ll get quite a bit of money. I’m just hoping it isn’t too expensive. Darren did tweet about what the site would contain, I’ll just go on twitter and copy and paste.

he said…
“working on LITTLEGLASSVIAL.COM Should be cool. Contests, Story boards, script pages, essays, concept art, scratch tracks, give aways”

I’ll be signing up for the site within the first few days so to save you the hassle of having to sign up to (unless you want to) I can get you all the info of whats in there and such and all things Amber/Paris related.

I’ve been focusing a lot on music and music sale trends in the past few years. Physical CD sales have decreased greatly, now it only takes 100,000 (give or take a couple thousand copies) to debut #1 on the Billboard Top 100 compared to the 300,000+ plus copies it used to take. Paris debuted #6 with 66,000 copies in the first week, Ashley Tisdale also debuted at #6 with around 64,000 copies in the first week (hers came out a different week than Paris’) and Ashley just released her sophomore efford and it only sold 25,000 copies and peaked at #12.

I have a feeling Paris new album will suffer the same fate, it’s so hard to sell albums now with everything be at the touch of out fingers online. I’ve noticed that a lot of sophomore albums realllllly slumped in sales compared to their debut efforts.

Paris has to seriously DOUBLE TIME it if she wants to see any sales.. but this is the reason I’m buying 10 copies 🙂

kevin,
All she needs is a really cohesive album. Don’t get me wrong, I loved ‘Paris’, but the problem with it is that I think it was too diverse and even though every track was inside of my personal taste (excepting perhaps ‘Fighting Over Me’) most people just won’t buy an album for a couple tracks. I think the next album should be solid and bring something new. If she releases one or two groundbreaking singles before the album people will certainly get interested. That’s why I think she should go a little bit underground and search for something that is yet to come and do it. Moreover, I think she totally lost the momentum releasing the album so much time after the release of ‘Stars Are Blind’.
But that is just what I think would be good for massive sales. As long as the album pleases me, I’m fine with it.

Honestly guys I’m personally tired of waiting, she just keeps on pushing back the album more and more I dont know what the hell goes on, she’s not doing a BIG thing at the moment so we can justify the lack of interest in the album. Jailhous baby, Paris for president nor my bff were that good, I’m sooooo over them. I really hope she comes out with sth REALLy hot.

I just watched Paris singing Bette Davis Eyes/Stars Are Blind (I know people thought she was just lip synching in this one, but if you listening carefully you can hear the track and her voice.) and she looks so natural dancing around stage with the microphone in her hand. This time around she NEEDS to do performances aswel as her appearences on ellen, letterman and her usual shows. She needs to sing. I dont think she will be huge in America, I think she can have mediocre success with her music their but I think where she has the chance of doing well is the UK and here in Australia. In here in Aus she need no promotion, apart from an interview on Video Hits. With just that Stars Are Blind charted at 7, Nothing in this World at 31 and the Album 24. Imagine if she had have actually come down here and promoted the hell out of it? The news coverage of Paris is so intense here, most people know about Paris’ BFF show here because it was mentioned so much in the news reports and it hasnt even been aired. She just needs a nice little video, it doesnt have to be huge. I mean Lady Gaga’s video for Just Dance had the tiniest budget and look how well it worked witht he song. She needs to do performances on Ellen, Letterman and GMA. She needs to come down to Australia and atleast appear on Rove and perform on there too. Then go to the UK and do some performances and interviews there. I’m sure she can do it. She just needs to fully apply herself. And not just hope it does well because her names attatched. But she knows it.. lets just hope she does it.

Math M, I agree! She needs to come out with something unique and different!

scot, I’ll probably sign up if the price is reasonable. I wonder if they’ve started to make some profit! Ah, the Repo! project was great. It was really great…!

Thanks for the info.

@math m

That is what Paris is doing with her new album, it’s a solid dance/pop music. She was heavily inspired by Bob Sinclar and European music and I don’t blame her, I just came back from a trip to Europe and the mainstream music is so dancey way more tasteful than the US.

David Guetta who’s taking storm all over the world with his new album reminds me so much of Paris new music but the sad thing is David’s single ‘When Love Takes Over’ went #1 all over the world but barely made a scratch in the US. I don’t think the US likes dance/pop much….

@hiram

You can’t really get upset with her, she never said a new album is coming out on a specific date. She just mentions she’s working on it. Also she hasn’t decided on a label yet and that takes TIMMMMEEEE. The US singer Jojo completed her third album over 8 months ago and it JUST got the green light cause the paperwork with her new label took that long. So like someone could complete an album, all 12 (plus/minus) tracks, but with label/legal issues it could take a long time to see the light of day.

I have to agree with Kevin. I don’t want to sound mean towards all the Americans here, but I’m really glad Paris is doing Europop instead of following Rihanna or Lady GaGa like everyone else is doing.

From: scot

I just wrote out quite the rant but thought it was pointless. I’ll just shorten it right down.
– I’ve been saying all along Paris should focus on being successful in the UK, Aus and Asia (maybe even Canada) because the US just aren’t going to grab onto it. Look how long it took the US to get into Lady Gaga. Math M, Gaga’s sound is very much what Paris is doing, the whole electro/synth-pop. It’s not europop, you wants europop check out Cascada. Paris is doing what the likes of Gaga, Kylie Minogue Girls Aloud, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Sugababes (their new stuff), the later of which are english. I bet the album will bomb in the US, but if she shifts her attention to the other key markets, it’ll be huge.

I don’t think she is doing GaGa, because her work has some massive R’n’B influence and Paris seems to be getting tired of the whole R’n’B/Hip Hop scene. When I said ‘Europop’ I meant something in the vein of Sophie Ellis-Bextor or Kylie and I think it would be really great. Since you brought the Sugababes up (whose new single ‘Get Sexy’ deeply frustrated me as a fan), I think it would also be really cool and (really unexpected) if Paris took the place they left vacant and do some slightly experimental pop music, like they used to do. That would be great.

Gaga… r’n’b influenced? I think not. Her music is very much new york electro-pop. Do enlighten me the r’n’b, ahah I’ve got (quite literally) every gaga song and the only song that comes to mind when you mentioned r’n’b was starstruck and that was only because flo rida is in it. Her music is very piano based, 80s hair metal influenced electro-pop.

But back onto Paris. Although I despise kylie, the sound of her X album would greatly suit her and from what she’s revealed that’s what she is going for which is the best thing. The only mistake I can see Paris making is her having the us as her targetted market. Europe, Asia and Australia is her best bet /nod.

I really like get sexy haha. I think their last two album have been somewhat dissapointing sales wise and so theyre coming out with a much more mainstream album to push them back into the spotlight again which will allow them to release a deeper record instead of heading to what was a very likely demise. Its a smart move that had to be made and although it is a tad dissapointment, its the sugababes they’ll still have their heart in it. I think the music video is brilliant too haha. Although I must say, I think Paris in a bird cage and in chains would be much sexier!

Platinum Blonde and Girl Tax are two of her best songs 🙂 Crave has a great beat, Jailhouse Baby is SO cute, so is Paris For President. I like My BFF a lot too. I can’t wait to hear some of the other songs like Globetrottin’, Boy Oh Boy and Another Lifetime 🙂 I wonder what the title of the album will be??? People keep saying Fire but I doubt it.

I’m going to go with platinum blonde for the album title

From: Math M
Time: August 14, 2009, 6:03 am

Well, the beats and the metric are very R’n’B influenced. Although it’s electro, it’s something you could easily picture Rihanna doing with little rearrangements. I think Paris should really concentrate on non-US market too.
I know it’s not a Sugababes site but I can’t help it: their last two albums were actually very good and the new single is really flat compared to what they can do. I admit ‘Change’ was weaker than their previous work, but it was above average by far and it’s a style I’d really enjoy if Paris went for it. As for their last album, I think it was their best since their first one the only problem being stupid single choices and an overconfidence that it would be a #1 without any promotion or visual appeal (it’s not an album you’d find interesting if you saw it on a shop and didn’t know the content of it).
As for the title, I think she should really go crazy with it. ‘Platinum Blonde’ sounds good, but perhaps something a bit more acid, maybe mocking her (wrong) public image. And I’d love the cover shot to be by David Lachapelle. I think they work really good together and I love the fact that he is the one who took the picture that boosted Paris’s name and made her stand out from the other New York socialites.
